The sculpture series Instability: Digital Existence belongs to a long-term project named Conjectures about Eternity as a Temporary State that the artist is exploring. In this project, through the capture of details and poeticization of information, the artist provides the audience with potential possibilities of understanding eternity, as a perceptual experience and a state of being. One of the perspectives about eternity as a state is the uncertainty and unpredictable results of ongoing movement. The original physical form of Instability is 3D print sculptures firstly created through a 3D scanner and then made of Stereolithography(SLA) and ABS paint. Instability: Digital Existence is a further step to investigate the method of eternal preservation. The sculptures are uploaded to the cloud as data which might be considered as the most long-lasting state nowadays. Meanwhile, the material part is selected to be rendered as a bronze-like effect. The result builds a conversation between the metal as an extremely enduring form in physical reality throughout history and the data existing in today and future.
